Health Foods to help your Healthy Diet

There are so many healthy foods out there that it is hard to know exactly what to eat, but with all the variety that there is there is no reason that you should have to grab that packet of biscuits or crisps when you are feeling hungray!! Yes, its not just as easy as peircing the film and chucking it in the microwave, but if you start eating properly, and healthily you will feel the benefits from the first few days. You will have more energy, skin will look better, hair will feel better, your mood swings will lessen - can't guarentee that they will stop, some of us just have them!

Many diets are available, they all lead to successful weight loss if you follow them religiously. But what usually happens is that when we return to our old eating patterns We feel like failures because we tend to put all the weight back on again! Then, alas, we start dieting all over agian and so the vicious diet circle starts! The only way to avoid the VC is to eat healthily all the time, not just whenyou want to lose weight. By eating healthily we mean eating wholesome, natural foods, foods for health.

The closer a food is to its natural state, the better it is for you. Fresh fruits are great and will satisfy sugar cravings. Whole vegetables have lots of vitamins and minerals, especially green and orange ones. Steam them to retain the most nutritional value. Any pasta or baked goods should be made from whole grains. Avoid white breads and noodles - they are made from flour that has had much of the nutritional content removed. Avoid sugary snacks and pastries as well. An apple is healthy and a good choice - an apple pie isn't.

Lean meats and fish are excellent choices for food. The omega 3 oils in fish are often missing in general diets. Baked or poached fish and chicken are far healthier than fried, and lean meats are healthier than higher fat beef. Processed lunch meats, hot dogs, bacon, and sausages dont have much nutritional value.

Eat a wide variety of foods because some people become sensitive to foods they eat frequently. Try different grains, such as spelt, as a substitute for wheat and try rice milk or almond milk in place of cow's milk.

Stick to water as your main beverage, and avoid fizzy juice. If you get tired of plain water, add a slice of lemon or lime to add flavor. For kids, try some fruit juice jazzed up with carbonated water. Some herbal and green teas may add great benefits to your health.
